Meagan and Austin's Wedding

Meagan and Austin were married on January 17th, 2009 at the gorgeous Carlsbad golf course, The Crossings. Meagan was gorgeous! Michelle photographed her and her bridesmaids, while I photographed the guys. Austin and his groomsmen are from Texas, and I gotta say.. there is something to the Texas charm! Just a delightful, polite, respectful group of guys, it was great working with them! We had a gorgeous day, not a cloud in the sky and the sun had a beautiful golden glow. Erin and Ash Engaged!

Last weekend, I photographed Erin and Ash's engagement session here in Carlsbad. They were looking for an "urban" type theme with a perfect sunset on the beach for an ending. I think they got exactly what they were asking for. I met Erin and Ash in downtown Carlsbad and we began in my favorite alley way, and then I gave them the tour around my city. They were really fun to work with and we had some laughs quoting our favorite Mitch Headburg comedy lines. I think I sold them on my city and I'm pretty sure they'll begin looking for some property here soon (LOL). Did I just write LOL? Anyway, we walked around town for about 45 minutes before heading down to Terramar Beach for a perfect Studio Z sunset. Yes, with Studio Z, we guarantee perfect weather (LOL again). So congrats guys and I'm looking forward to your wedding!!! - Bill

Bill, Annie and I had the honor to shoot Lyndsey and her husband Tyler. Lyndsey was my intern for almost two years. Tyler and Lyndsey were moving back home and she had wanted us to photograph them. We did the shoot in downtown Carlsbad and all five of us had a great time. The images turned out amazing and what a great send off for the two of them. ~Michelle

Annie & Michelle's Week at WPPI!

Here it is, finally, our week in Las Vegas for WPPI. I know I said I would try and update our blog daily and I did try, but I had internet issues. I even called the 1-800 tech number that was at our hotel and the tech wasn't even able to help me. After about 10 minutes of being on the phone with him he said to me: "Mam' if you don't mind me asking? If your in Vegas what in the world are you doing in your hotel room, on the phone with me trying to fix your computer?" I laughed and said, "You know what you are right, thank you for help and goodbye!" I even attempted to go online while in my classes so I could update the blog and nothing. So here I am and enjoy our photos. Annie and I had a great time learning, seeing new product and of course all of the social networking. We are already looking forward to WPPI 2010!~Michelle

Michelle & Annie at the San Diego Airport We had to take a photo of the flight attendant because she was hilarious she even sang to us. I really wish I could remember the name of the song. It was from Lion King, it goes a little something like this (imagine me singing): "In the jungle the mighty jungle the lion sleeps tonight....."
She was great!

About 3/4 's of the plane were plugging their ears everytime the pilot would talk to us. The speaker for his microphone was up just a tad bit to high; not okay!

WPPI-Wedding and Portrait Photographers International convention was held at The MGM Grand.

It's Official....we have checked in tags and all!

Studio Z decided to stay at Hooters-a couple of reasons 1/2 the price of MGM and it was right across the street from the convention. We thought we were being smart! Hmmm...1/2 the price means 1/2 the bed, 1/2 the pillow(not kidding) 1/2 the casino, 1/2 the places to eat and 1/2 the customer service. Lots of Hooters, orange shorts and chicken wings though. It took us 3 different times to check in, finally I showed some frustration around the 3rd time and the receptionist said, "How about we upgrade you to the ocean suites?" I looked at Annie and said, "Ocean Suites, wow when did Vegas become coastal?" Well here it is folks our ocean view.....

You gotta love the table in the room, all we needed was one of the hooter girls, wings and beer!

Annie, thought it was necessary that I stand under this sign. You know I consider myself to be a very smart and knowlegable woman.

Turns out the DJ convention was going on the same week and our favorite british DJ was in Vegas too. (Mick Scrivner-Elite Britrish DJ-www.elitebritishdj.net ) We met Mick over at New York New York for dinner and then headed over to The Piano Bar. Mick, "THANK YOU" for dinner, the next one is on Studio Z.

The GoBee party at The Luxor. Sara France had this party in her suite and I kid you not there was probaly close to 500 photographers in this suite. Along with a photo booth, a dance floor in the bedroom and we can't forget the bartender.

The Pictage Party at Studio 54. All I can say is "Dance"! That's what we did all night-umm, till I think 4:00 in the morning. The dance floor was completely covered with all of us photographers and we had an amazing time. Imagine a dance floor where you know everyone, Annie and I were all over the place. Good Times! A little bit tired the next day, but well worth it!

Yanina & John Engagement

Bridal Show at Ponte Winery

Studio Z goes to Temecula,Ca to participate in their first bridal show for 2009. The show was at Ponte Winery and turned out to be a huge success. We made a lot of great contacts, connections and even booked a wedding; which is going to be at Dodger stadium. The couple will be getting married on home plate and all 200 of their guests will be watching the ceremony from the box seats. We are very excited to have this opportunity; Annie and I even screamed when the bride came back with the contract! Needless to say all three of us walked away with huge smiles on our face! Oh! And the man below next to Bill in the plaid shirt; that would be Bill's dad!

Betsy and Pascal were married on January 10th of this year at the Coronado Community Center. This beautiful venue overlooks San Diego's harbor and has a perfect view of the Coronado Bridge. The weather was perfect and we had a full moon rise over us while we were photographing the "romantics" of the couple. Then, we even had some fireworks go off; making for another spectacular backdrop. It was a very fun wedding to photograph and Betsy and Pascal were a lot of fun to work with. Andrea and Stephen got married at Paradise Gardens in Oceanside. Michelle, Bill and Annie all photographed this wedding and captured just about everything from 3 different angles. It was a perfect day and Paradise gardens is absolutely beautiful venue to photograph. Andrea and Stephen were completely laid back and happy to humor us with all the photo ideas we three photographers kept throwing out at them. It's that time of year again, that's right Vegas Baby! Annie and I are making it out to Las Vegas again for a 2nd run at WPPI (Wedding and Portrait Photographer International). We are leaving tomorrow morning and the two of us are very excited. We have a few busy days ahead of us and probaly not much sleep. Below are just a few of the events we will be attending; which is not even including our daily class schedules, like I said, "No Sleep!" Can you say, "Redbull?" Annie and are I both looking forward to hanging out with all of our photog friends that we have met the past couple of years. WPPI is always a great way to reconnect with old acquaintances and to meet new ones. As usual we will have a camera on hand to document our adventures and friends; so stay tuned for the photos of Annie & Michelle in Vegas 2009!! ~Michelle

I really enjoyed working with Chelsea & Rogan today, they are such a sweet couple and Chelsea was a true joy to photograph; such a natural in front of the camera. Carey and Scott's Wedding

Carey and Scott were married at the Bernardo Winery in Rancho Bernardo. They had a beautiful outdoor ceremony and reception on the rustic grounds adjacent to the vineyards. The couple was very fun and laid back and I truly enjoyed working with them. One unique aspect in their ceremony was Scott's dog was the ring bearer. The dog did a better job than most children I've seen walking down the aisle. The cozy and scenic atmosphere of the winery made for some beautiful settings for photos and I think we made some awesome images together. Congrats guys!!! - Bill

Meet the new Mr. & Mrs. Barazza; Jackie and Rob were on November 8, 2008. The two became one at St. Mary's Catholic church in Oceanside and the reception was at the quaint little Old Richland Schoolhouse. Jackie was a stunning bride today as she lit up the room with her unique smile and amazing personality. I remember meeting with Jackie over a year ago at The Coffee Bean in Del Mar and there was an instant connection between the two of us-her spirit and passion for life is contagious. Bill- I cannot say enough to you... we LOVE our pictures! It made me cry to see all of the ceremony shots; you really captured everyone's expressions! In so many of them, I could tell you exactly what was going through my mind with the expression on my face! That will last forever! Everyone was so impressed with your artful approach and angles! We just keep looking at them all again and again. Thank you for capturing the emotions of our day with such detail. We value those pictures more than anything.
We've begun picking favorites and I had a couple questions for you! As of now, I have 130 favorites... Do we really need to get down to 50? That just doesn't seem possible! Also, we LOVE some of the tiny details shots! Are you able to use those as background on the pages with other pictures over it? Do you have any suggestions as to what goes in the wedding album? Do we only use pictures from the ceremony and romantics? Or do we chronical the whole day?

Sarah's Senior Portrait Shoot

Ok, it's official I LOVE doing high school senior shoots! Sarah is a senior at Vista High School, and I recently did a photo session with her. The camera loved her, and we had sooo much fun! We walked around downtown carlsbad, then headed over to the beach to catch the beautiful "before sunset glow". Sarah even chased seagulls on the beach.. too cute! La Costa Canyon Winter Formal

A few weeks ago I photographed the La Costa Canyon High School Winter Formal. This is Studio Z's second year in a row shooting the event. The "pre-party" was held at a beautiful home in La Costa where there was a perfect spot for photographing the kids. All the parents were there as well and the food was delicious. After the photos the kids got onto a huge party limo and headed down to Balboa Park to The Hall of Champions where the dance was being held. - Bill

Prayers & Positives Thoughts for Cassidy

I've posted about Miss Cassidy before. She's the daughter of a friend of mine, and she is the same age as my son Zander. Cassidy is in Toronto today, and today she was supposed to (finally) get her liver transplant. The details haven't reached me yet, but there was something that caused the surgeons to close her back up without doing the procedure. My heart is heavy for Cassidy and her family. Over the last two weekends, Studio Z has been photographing Carlsbad Youth Sports basketball . Over 400 kids and 40 teams!!! And as usual, Michelle, Annie and I got into our usual dorky routine and did some funny photos of us.

My sister in law, Becca, helped us out too.

Why I "LOVE" what I do...

Hi Michelle,

Zach and I looked through all the photos and we love them!! There are so many unique, artistic shots of the two of us...it's going to be a challenge deciding which photos to frame.

You and Bill did a great job capturing the essence of the Thursday Club and the overall feel of our wedding day. You were also fun to work with (all my bridesmaids commented on how fun the photo shoot was...Zach and I felt the same).

P.S. I just want you guys to know that I cannot stop looking at the photos....they are just amazing. I love the filter/editing style you used to give a bunch of them an "enchanted garden" feel. There are so many that I like, I feel like I could fill a whole room with wedding photos....seriously, I'm not sure how I will pick which photos to frame or include in our album. I also love the photos of the rings...and the cake...and the bouquets. I spent a lot of time planning out the color scheme and flowers and it is so great to have everything captured so beautifully.

Thank you again for your hard work...Zach and I are really happy we went with Studio Z!!

I had a blast working with Sesselja & Greg today, what a great couple! We started the afternoon at Balboa Park and spent almost 2 hours shooting. We then headed down to La Jolla to capture the two of the on our beautiful coast line. It was extremely windy at the beach; besides me getting hit by a wave and being drenched from my waist down I think I manged to get some stunning images. The Thursday Club is one of our favorite places to photograph a wedding due to the amazing scenery and close proximity to one of the most beautiful beaches in San Diego. Studio Z's Year in Weddings...Fisheye Style

So we're not sure how it started, but the fact of the matter is that it has become a "must-do" shot at every wedding we photograph. For us, its not a complete wedding unless we do this shot together, during the reception, with the dance floor usually behind us. Hollie and Rick get Married!

Hollie and Rick were married on October 5, 2008 and Twin Oaks Schoolhouse in San Marcos. This was my first time working at this venue and it is definitely a hidden treasure. My options were endless for shooting and I did not want to stop. I met Hollie and Rick in October of 2007 and we instantly connected as soon as they walked through my front door. Needless to say it was a true honor to be able to capture their very special day. The flowers were stunning-Hollie was glowing and Rick was probaly my very first groom whom was comfortable in front of the camera. The grand entrance was unique-the toast's were genuine and the drinks were flowing. It was a perfect day for Hollie & Rick! Best Wishes~Michelle

Oh my goodness! Seriously, I almost have no words, and trust me that never happens. The pictures are gorgeous! What a perfect way to start off the New Year! I loved working with Echoe and Daniel today; they are so cute together-a perfect match! We spent the afternoon at Balboa Park. It was a perfect day to for these two, the sun was shining, we had the beautiful Southern California weather and love was in the air! Studio Z is featured in "Ceremony Magazine"

Its official, Studio Z has been published in Ceremony Magazine!!! Ceremony Magazine is one of the most elite Wedding/Bridal magazines in Southern California and we are so excited to be included in their pages.

We received a case of the magazines last night and Studio Z immediately made an executive decision to go to our regular celebratory sushi restaurant, Masuo's, in Solana Beach. Oddly enough, Mirelle, a former bride, and coincidently, the bride who's wedding is featured in the magazine was with us. Mirelle was picking up her wedding album from Michelle's house when we got the magazines and she just had to come along to sushi.

Apart from the featured wedding, we also have an ad for the studio and a TON of photos featured throughout the magazine that we've submitted. The conversation throughout dinner was "Michelle, isn't that your photo on page 143"? and "Annie, you got a two page spread on page 37". It was very exciting to see all of our names, images, photographs and words in actual print in such an elite publication.

As I write this, I am still in awe about how far Studio Z has come in such a short time. Me, Michelle and Annie work so perfect as a team and I see great things in our future. I am so thankful to be doing what I love and for two wonderful business partners. -Bill

Kellie and Aaron were married on October 5, 2008 at Lake San Marcos Country Club. Today was kind of a chilly day, if I remember correctly I think it even rained for a little bit. OH MY GOD! I am not even all the way through the “The Girls” portion, and I have already cried 4 times!!!!!! You, Annie and Bill are AMAZING!!!! I can’t even describe how I feel looking at these beautiful pictures! I can’t wait to take a look at the rest…and I have a full box of tissues handy!
